From the transcript:
DON IMUS: They're (the Palestinians) eating dirt and that fat pig wife of
his is living in Paris.
COLLEAGUE: They're all brainwashed, though. That's what it is. And they're
stupid, to begin with, but they're brainwashed now. Stinking animals. They
ought to drop the bomb right there, kill `em all right now...
IMUS: Well, the problem is we have (reporter) Andrea (Mitchell) there; we
don't want anything to happen to her.
COLLEAGUE: Oh, she's got to get out. Andrea, get out and then drop the bomb
and kill everybody...
COLLEAGUE: Look at this. Animals. Animals!

And then I hear comments like 'oh, they hate us for our freedom' - riiiight. Maybe they hate 'us' (the west) because our whole culture leans towards portraying them as either sub-human or evil? To see this sort of thing unchallenged sickens me, and there is a whole generation being brainwashed into these attitudes. Watch some kids programmes - when did you ever see someone of arab descent portrayed positively? In cartoons, at the time of the cold war, the 'baddies' were always russian types but now they are most likely to be swarthy-skinned and hook nosed.
I despair of us, in the west, and am becoming more and more convinced that the current path with lead us to all out war between islam and the west. The politicians may mouth platitudes about not being against Islam, but the people on the ground being bombed, starved, tortured and napalmed have a very different experience. The situation in Iraq is a disgrace and is recruiting more 'terrorists' daily, but attitudes such as the one above is equally harmful, and i believe it to be evil.
First diary - so do tell me if I have gone wrong.
