AP bamboozles America into believing the surge is working. Based on the story published today, headlines across the mainstream media scream:
NY Times: Drop in Violence in Iraq Reported
Washington Post: U.S., Iraqi Civilian Deaths Fall Sharply
MSNBC: Deaths among U.S. forces, Iraqi civilians drop
All this based on a one month decline, which hopefully forms a trend. But what about this year, compared against previous years? Take a look on the flip side:

U.S. Casualties By Calendar Year
Year US Deaths US Wounded
2003 486 2,408
2004 849 8,003
2005 846 5,948
2006 822 6,398
2007 801 4,996
Total 3804 27753
With three months remaining, 2007 will almost certainly rank as the bloodiest year in terms of U.S. deaths during the entire war. The average monthly death toll in 2007 is 89. By simply multiplying that by the remaining three months of the year, the 2007 death toll would be 1,068. Based on this, do you think the surge is working???? Stephen Hurst, the A.P. reported who authored the article that the MSM is hawking, should be commended for his excellent stenography and due diligence skills.
