The Indianapolis Star has
the story.
The real number of votes was tracked down to be 5352. Maybe the real tradgedy is a 28% turnout of registered voters. According to epodunk.com (which I just found using Google so take it as you will) the county in question, Boone County, has 46,107 people (as of 2000). With about 25% below voting age, that's about 15% of the eligible voters that voted in Boone County. Can such a fragile democracy survive evoting software bugs (let alone evoting fraud)?
And a poll for fun.
