Donald Trump has finally managed to shock me. A radio station in New York, Q104.3 plays these pre-recorded segments every morning in which Donald Trump riffs on some current news item. They are usually pointless, mindless drivel.
This morning as I'm driving to work, he managed to crank one out that was horrific.
The news item in question was out of England. A woman was in the hospital to get breast implants. Her husband showed up, told her that she didn't need them, "Don't do it. I like you as you are." He then proceeded to try and drag her out of the hospital.
This is how Trump started the story. Almost as an afterthought he added the kicker. That the woman had a black eye when she showed up at the hospital, and that there was a history of domestic violence. He didn't mention that the husband had a knife and that he threatened to kill her.
Keep reading for his "punch line."
You can read the actual news story here. Instead of using the story as a lesson about domestic violence, Trump decided to question the motives of married women who want to undergo breast augmentation.
He suggested that women who want implants when their husbands don't are having an affair and are doing it for another man.
Until this point, it was just another boring, inane and mysogynistic segment. Nothing shocking coming from Donald Trump. Then he said this, referring to his theory about why married women want breast implants:
Tell this to the husband of the woman with the black eye. See what happens.
Brilliant. Just brilliant.
First, ignore the reality of the actual events that took place. Is it possible the wife-beating bastard was lying? That he didn't mind the implants, but was more worried about someone in the hospital discovering that she was being abused?
Then conclude that all women who get breast implants against their husband's wishes are having affairs. That's the only possible reason. I assume that all men who get hair plugs and shiny, red, penis-shaped cars when they turn 50 are having affairs too.
Finally suggegst that the woman in question is having an affair and that her husband will beat her for it.
Sickening.
I'm calling the station to complain. This is the first time I've ever done anything like this. I have a very thick skin and a very crude sense of humor, but this was no joke. There was no sense that this was meant to be humorous. Rather it was Trump's actual opinion.
I assume nothing will happen. But it's worth a try. Maybe if enough people call. Personally I don't care if he stays on the air or not, but perhaps he can be conviced to write a big fat check for a women's shelter.
Anyway, here's the info on the station:

I listen to Q104.3 just about every morning, primarily for the music. This morning you had one of the pre-recorded Donald Trump segments in which he riffs on a current event. I don’t think much of them, but what I heard around 8:15 am this morning was horrific.
He referenced a British woman who was forcibly kidnapped by her husband when she went to go get breast implants. Almost as an afterthought, Trump added that she was being abused by her husband. But instead of saying something about domestic violence, he instead suggested that married women who get implants against the wishes of their husbands are having affairs. Disgusting, but hardly shocking.
What came next was.
His final statement was something to the effect of: "Tell this to the husband of the woman with the black eye. See what happens."
What a wonderful statement. That domestic violence is predictable or even justified by the mere suspicion that a woman is having an affair.
I assume your station does not condone such ideas. Yet this was pre-recorded. How did it get past your editors? Did they think it was funny, because Trump was not telling a joke, he was expressing his opinion.
Please let me know what you intend to do about this and whether you will be a little more rigorous in screening his statements in the future.
I await your response.
Here is is response:
XXXXXXXXXX...It certainly did get past us. Sorry about that. I know you recognize it as his opinion, and I apperciate you bringing it to my attention and for your support of the station.
Best,
Bob
Okay. Maybe I don't do outrage very good, to get a tepid response like that. But at least he didn't deny that is happened.
Anyway. I'm still trying to find a transcript or recording.
