I've read a lot of posts about today's press conference, and everyone is getting lots of mileage out of how dull Bush seemed, how pathetic his delivery is, how bizarre his word choices are.
What many of you seem to be ignoring is that Bush's speech patterns and non-words help him with much of the electorate. They see him as a "regular guy," i.e., someone they can trust. The data is out there on this.
This election is going to be a dogfight and anyone who hates this adminstration but does not get out there and put his or her "boots on the ground," is in denial or is a lazy whiner -- or both.
No excuses. No "There's no hope for the political process, it's all bought and paid for, why should I even try" bullsh*t. Rove is counting on that. The ONLY way to defeat these guys will be to register, get your friends to register, get your coworkers to register, get your neighbors to register -- and then to personally drag their asses to the polling place come election day. And then to go into other precincts and drag other people's friends, coworkers and neighbors in.
And if you think Diebold will steal the election for Bushco, then start fighting them NOW.
I get really panicked when I think that you all aren't taking the threat of a second term seriously. Geez, I'm a *Dean* supporter and you don't get more hopeful than that -- but I am really afraid that only the dumb, the sheep, and the selfish will vote come November next year.
