This diary is about the second term, more after the fold...
War Contractor
A person or persons who conduct war operations, provide services, supplies and equipment in place of a nations armed services in a theatre of war during times of conflict.
This diary is about War Contractors and why Iraq is the single biggest mistake that has ever taken place in the history of armed aggression/defense.
I've read a lot about the Iraqi war, I do understand Markos's plea for troop withdrawal, I've read Juan Cole's UN Option, I've read about the Unemployment in Iraq and the Incredible Corruption, I've read aboud Abu Gharib, Gitmo and much much more as all of you have undoubtedly.
But it was not until the I watched the Frontline episode on Private Warriors that true unmitigated horror set in.
It was then that I realized the difference between a Defense Contractor and a War Contractor
This is my definition, but here it is once again
War Contractor
A person or persons who conduct war operations, provide services, supplies and equipment in place of a nations armed services in a theatre of war during times of conflict.
Think about that, think about what it means!
Halliburtion, KBR, All of the security contractors in Iraq, they are all War Contractors, and they all have one thing in common.
They all have an interest in America being at war.
They do not get contracts worth tens of billions of dollars unless America is at war.
By now this should be sending a chill down your spine, I know it does mine. We have outsourced war, while our boys were chasing down Osama, KBR was preparing Kuwait for us to launch a war against Saddam in late 2001 and early 2002, to the tune of 700 million dollars. KBR then had an interest in us going to war with Iraq, it meant tens of billions of dollars in contracts. KBR today has an interest in us staying there!
Our war contractors provide everything our soldiers used to do, they prepare the meals, they build the housing, they run the supply lines, they build the bases, hell they even clean the latrines.
All our boys get to do is go out on the front lines die and get maimed and wounded!
They all have an interest in America being at war.
They do not get contracts worth tens of billions of dollars unless America is at war.
They are directly connected to the number two man in the White house!
And then there are those security contractors, of which there is nearly 50,000 of them in Iraq.
Think about that for a minute, 50,000 private warriors who don't answer to anyone, some of them making up to 2000k dollars a day, every single one of them, They all have an interest in America being at war.
Wow! Does anyone know who these people are? They are mercenaries, they are some of the worst element in the world, trained killers, trained fighters, demolition experts, security agents for the drug cartels, and criminal enterprises from all around the world, you name it they are all there and more are arriving every single day, and every single one of them have an interest in America being at war.
I'm no tinfoil hat person, although I do admit to enjoying a good conspiracy theory as much as the next person.
But the truth is!
You are naive if you don't believe that people or organizations will not facilitate the flying of planes into buildings when it serves their interest and their interest is America at war
You are naive if you don't believe that the brainwashed can easily be enticed to do the bidding of others to serve as pawns to serve the interests of the chess players who's interests are America at war.
You are naive if you don't believe that trained killers will not set off car bombs and entice suicide bombers to facilitate carnage when it means that America stays at war and those trained killers continue to get their pay of thousands of dollars a day!
We have created an entire industry who doesn't get paid unless America is at war, and they just so happen to make more the more dangerous the conflict is.
They have incentive to keep us there, and this is where the real problem comes in.
Not only have we done all of this, which would be bad enough in any country without The worlds second largest reserve of oil!
But no, we had to go and set up this fucking industry on top of the worlds second largest oil reserves!
This is not going to come out good folks, think about it, place yourself into the time of any of the worlds worst criminals and ask yourself if they all would not be in Iraq in their time if the same was going on? Would Al Capone be there? Would the Mafia? What about any of the criminal enterprises that have existed in world history? What about any of the evil leaders that live in history, you don't think they would be there, on the take and making sure America stayed at war while they walked away with billions of our dollars making sure our soldiers keep getting killed?
This just blows my mind then I think about, this is not ever going to stabilize, it can't, no one has any interest in it doing so as long as we're willing to continue to funnel hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars, which is the case as long as America is at war
Vietnam? Hell Vietnam does not even come close to the problem that this situation presents, this is a seriously fucked up situation with no means for resolution except a significant change in policy and hundreds of thousands of additional troops while kicking out all of those who have an interest in seeing us stay there, which is not going to happen as long as they all have a direct line to the top levels of our government!
What if we were to leave, then as close to anarchy as Iraq is now, it'll be completely turned over to the tens of thousands of mercenaries and criminal enterprises and it will become as corrupt and lawless as anything the world has ever seen. Not to mention it will continue to draw in tens of thousands of fundamentalist Islamics, Afghanistan will be nothing compared to the lawlessness and anarchy that will ensue.
What of the Iraqis? What will become of them? Many many of them will die, this will last decades and decades and its likely that 1/2 of the population will be gone within 20 years. Iraq will continue to become more and more lawless as time passes by and that will lead to widespread death far greater than what we see now. In short, we have brought the fires of hell to the Iraqis, and we should be ashamed for doing so.
As A liberal I wanted to see Saddam go but did not agree with war to accomplish it. I always felt that we should have just served notice that regime change was the goal and not played these WMD games, we should have said the world had inflicted enough pain and suffering on the Iraqis through our sanctions and we were not ever going to give our oil dollars to Saddam and his sons again and in order to resolve the stalemate, the only solution was Saddam leaving, there was no other alternative. No games, Saddam leave period. I don't know if that would have worked or not, but it would have been honest and it would not have allowed Saddam any wiggle room whatsoever and it would have likely garnered world-wide liberal support because it would have been a humanitarian exercise.
But I am ashamed of what we have done to the Iraqi people, we have most certainly made their situation far far worse than when Saddam was there, the people who are moving in today would likely make Saddam look like a girl scout or they all would have been close close friends.
I don't know what the answer is, we have committed this crime and set up a criminal enterprise on top of the worlds second largest oil reserves! We have created an industry that has an interest in America being at war who do not receive contracts worth tens of billions of dollars unless we are. We have created a monster that grows larger every day.
America has created the worst form of anarchy that could ever exist, one that thrives on carnage and continued American military conflict, all of this on top of one of the largest possible sources of money providing the single largest enticement for corruption in the history of the world.
This will not come out well my friends, we have opened up pandoras box and there is no closing it now.
These war contractors will be accurately described by historians as the biggest war criminals that history has ever known!
