What the hell is going on?

I posted this in the comments over at Kevin Drum's site, but I thought that maybe I should put it as a diary here.

Could someone please explain to me what fucking parallel universe I'm living in where, in the past two days:

(1) The supposedly anti-corruption Congressional republicans are making rules to avoid the consequences of corruption;

(2) The party of "it's your money" is proposing what amounts to a massive tax increase on the middle class;

(3) The party that decries political correctness is finding violations of pc-ness under every fucking rock; and

(4) The party that pushed a balanced budget amendment is raising the debt ceiling?

Did someone fucking pelt me with a rock Tuesday night that made me see everything topsy-turvy, or did the 1994 democrats just become the 2004 republicans, only with a little bit more stupid thrown in for good measure?
