Two books I read recently that I recommend for all. They're about Louis Howe, FDR's friend and advisor, who I had never heard of until recently. Arguably, FDR would not have been FDR without Louis.
The first is "The Man Behind Roosevelt" by Lela Stiles. The other is "Roosevelt and Howe" by Hendrien Kaal and Alfred Rollins. I was only able to find used copies on Amazon (no link, sorry, this stuff is too complicated for me).
Louis Howe's dedication and commitment to his friend Franklin provides a good example for all of us in 2008.
Happy New Year to all!!!!!
