Unless you've been living in a hole the last ten days you know by know that the California Supreme Court legalized Gay Marriage on Thursday. You should also know that the Religious Right is gearing up to pass a Constitutional Amendment that will permanently enshrine discrimination against gay couples into the California Constitution.
The Ballot Initiative that will put this Constitutional Amendment on the ballot in November has not been certified by the California Secretary of State yet. Unless something remarkable happens there is every expectation that this ballot initiative will be certified and the Christian Culture Terrorists led by James Dobson will flood into California to spread their vile bigotry across the state and pass this amendment.
And we will all forget to pose the simple process questions: How where all those signatures collected?
The answer was provided unashamedly by a Guest on the Monday Edition of "Focus on the Family" hosted by James Dobson. Jack Hibbs, the senior pastor at Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, boasted of using his undoubtedly tax exempt Church to farm signatures for the "Protect Marriage" Amendment.
Pretty quietly ... We were mobilizing churches through the State [of California] to sign the petition to allow California to amend the constitution to define a male and a female... Flying low below the radar we were able to get 1.1 million signatures. We had people in line at our church to sign this petition. In the Church seats the petition applications were in every church seat pocket. This not only happened out our church but in churches across the State.
The American Protestant Church is being turned into an equally radicalized, politicized venue by people like this Jack Hibbs and his silk-tongued mentor James Dobson. Today's church is a breeding ground for radical Christian Zealots to spread their agenda of hate and discrimination in the name of Jesus across the nation. Today's church is also being used to game the political process in an effort to deny gay couples their rights in California.
And these new American Madrasses of Christian Hate are allowed to do this Tax Free. If these Christian churches were Mosques using the color of tax exemption to put an Amendment ensconcing Shi'ra law on the California ballot in November everyone in California and across the country would be outraged. However, when James Dobson, Tony Perkins, and their merry band of thugs do it ... we let it slide.
I say enough letting it slide. If you are going to use your pulpit to promote the politics of hate you should lose your tax exemption.
Fellow Kossacks that are equally can write the IRS to file a complaint against Jack Hibbs and his church of hate at Internal Revenue Service Fresno, CA 93888. Or any other churches in California that are known to have used their own congregation to push for this amendment.
