By now most of you have seen the video of the lady ranting at the Rules and Bylaws Commitee meeting Saturday screaming the Democratic Party is throwing it all away for an inadequate black man. I cannot begin to tell you how this infuriates me. How I want to respond is beyond the measure of polite society. However, I will try to be somewhat dignified in my rebuttal of these egregious claims even though the protesters at this event went far beyond any attacks launched by RepubliKlans in painting Obama as an adulterous homosexual, drug-addicted, murderous, Nazi sympathizer. No, I will hope my case speaks the truth without resorting to politics of fear, but spare no harshness in the assessment of the situation at hand.
First off, I have huge problem with Hillary, her surrogates, and her supporters making the claim th that she is losing the nomination because of sexism generated by the Obama campaign. This is just patently absurd. Outside of the remark that Obama made during 1 debate about Hillary "being likeable enough," I cannot think of 1 instance of him or his surrogates saying anything remotely sexist. In fact they have been extremely deferential to Hillary right down to conceding ground favorable to them with RBC and calling to congratulate her on her victory in Puerto Rico. If you volunteer for the Obama campaign the first thing that they tell you is always be respectfull, never say anything negative about the opposition Dem, and talk the issue. Now contrast this with Clinton campaign. Bill makes his Jesse Jackson remarks in SC to label Obama "the black candidate". Hillary makes her remarks about hard working whites voting for her implying what - blacks are lazy and receive welfare. That was her coded message. In the Democratic Party there is no room to be politically incorrect(much to my chagrin), so you signal your message in a back-handed way. Hard working white is the backdoor way of pointing your finger at the Welfare Queen who happens to be black. Interesting also has been her take on his comments at the infamous clinging to religion and guns fundraiser. There is not one public appearance where she does not mention San Fransisco. What do you think she is signalling here. Her constant emphasis on San Fransisco implies he has the support of wealthy queers. Do not go all batty on me for terminology, I am gay and come from the days of QueerNation.
So is no wonder she did so well in places like Kentucky and West Virginia.NO! Hillary defined her opponent as the candidate for Black Welfare Queens and Wealthy Queers. She played on the fear of "other". I ask you is this feminism? Is this equality? I think not. This is downright insidious. Therefore, we have this implied message coming from the top of the campaign which allows the citizen a free pass to make these implied messages explicit. The case in point is Harriet Christian. When she got in front of a camera and called Obama an inadequate black man, she might as well called him a nigger. Thank you Harriet for showing us the true face of Hillary Sychophants. You ranted about how YOU were a second-class citizen, Harriet. YOU, a Manhattanite, are a second class citizen. Mmmph interesting. Now this is where I am going to depart from the Obama campaign in my belief that sometimes we need to be adversarial without apologies. To all the Hillary supporters who are like Harriet Christian, maybe you deserve to be a second-class citizen. In comparison to many people in this country, you have been riding in first-class and now is the time for OUR needs to be taken care of. Furthermore, I think we should dismiss you outright. The Harriet's of this nation have no room in our party. We do not need you and we do not want you. They can stomp their feet and scream "We will show you, because you can't do it without us." Have your pathetic temper tantrum and we will make our gains elsewhere. Will it be harder? Yes, it will be, but we will do it with or without you.
