3.0 update

So I muted the orange on all the graphics and box headers. Thoughts?

The problem with the comments is the most prickly, and like I've written before, I've appealed to the professionals.

We're working to address as many of the concerns as we can. Not everyone will be happy with the final result, but that's unavoidable in a community this large. Like I've said, alternate stylesheets should assuage most of the concerns people have about colors, placement of layour elements, and the fixed-width thing.
