It's been clear for a little while now that actor Jon Voight is, well, a little screwy when it comes to his politics. Remember this from last year, where he was boosting up Rudy Guliani's dying effort in Florida and declared a small, Katherine Harris-like crowd as being "like the Beatles or something."
It's only gotten worse since Obama (the false prophet, after all) was elected. Since then, Voight has been on a tear, headlining Republican fundraisers. (Rather odd, given Republicans seem to think Hollywood types should just shut up and not say anything.)
This week, though, Voight really went over the edge, wondering if Obama's creating a "civil war" in America:
"The real truth is that the Obama administration is professional at bullying, as we have witnessed with ACORN at work during the presidential campaign. It seems to me they are sending down their bullies to create fist fights among average American citizens who don't want a government-run health care plan forced upon them," Mr. Voight says. So I ask again. Is President Obama creating a civil war in the country?"
Okay, so Voight's (a) one of those conservatives who is projecting and blaming Obama for the town hall situations (funny, I thought you guys were the ones bringing guns) and (b) one of those who seems to confuse ACORN with SPECTRE from the 007 films. That's common. But saying Obama is "creating a civil war in the country?" Yikes.
But what I found most interesting was this:
A Hollywood conservative has headed East. It's "Freedom Concert" time for Jon Voight. The Acadamy Award winner will join Sean Hannity in Cinncinati and Atlanta this weekened to honor fallen soldiers and present college scholarships to surviving children.
Interesting. I was under the impression that Hannity didn't want "the Hollywood elite" to get involved in politics. Yet here he is, inviting Voight to join him in his "Freedom Concerts."
I think we need a new rules: It's Okay If You're A Conservative Hollywood Elitist (IOIYACHE).
Added note: what happened to Voight? I remember him back in the 70s doing films like Catch-22 and Coming Home (his Oscar winner, where he stared with...eeeeek...Jane Fonda!) that would drive conservatives nuts. Yet here he is, ranting like a deranged Michael Savage and starring on 24.
Is this why daughter Angelina Jolie won't talk to him?
