Judge Vaughn Walker’s ruling that California’s Proposition 8 gay marriage ban was unconstitutional began to wreak havoc on the state’s heterosexual marriages. One of the first victims, Dudley (Dud) Langfit, found himself sleeping on the couch Wednesday night after the ruinous court decision.
"It’s already started", lamented Langfit, "The sanctity of marriage is being destroyed by the mere thought of men marrying men or women marrying women." Langfit said his troubles originated the day of the California District court ruling. The Modesto man, who is unemployed, arrived home as was his custom at about 1:45 in the morning, having spent the evening with a Tea Party group at a local pub.
The group spent hours decrying the loss of freedom because of the Obama Health Care Initiative, government intrusion into Americans’ lives, and the destruction of traditional values by gay marriage. Afterward, Langfit tried to quietly enter the 1 bedroom apartment that he shares with his wife and their 4 children, but inadvertently knocked over a lamp while stumbling in the dark. It was then that his wife, Malicia, who was already agitated by the devastating effects of gay marriage on her own nuptials and was due to awaken in another hour for her morning job, hit him with an iron skillet.
"Because of an activist judge and liberals, my marriage may very well be over." Langfit said as he waited to cash his unemployment check at the corner liquor store. "Geez, I hope Medicare will cover the stitches I’m gonna need. What we really need is government out of our lives!"
