Katrina Swett stuck with Joe Lieberman after he lost the 2006 primary to Ned Lamont, saying "he's the better positioned politically for the future of the party that I love." It took her until 2007, when she was in a Democratic primary for Senate, to begin to back away from him. And she hasn't been what you'd call a harsh critic since.
After all, the qualities that attracted her to him in the first place are pretty telling:
A big pluralistic society like this needs to be governed from the center, and Joe represents that center...
All along, Joe Lieberman has been the kind of Democrat Katrina Swett wanted to see in power. Here's the question: With Lieberman appearing poised to run for re-election, will she again support him?
