This is the GOP ticket no-one is talking about. All the discussion about GOP contenders like Trump, Bachman, Romney, Palin are all laughable distractions. Here is a CBS story on the Top GOP Contenders -
But make no mistake about it Perry campaigned in 2010 against Barack Obama -not his opponent Bill White.
Perry was named Texan of the Year with accolades that will easily be a rallying cry for the GOP
Supporters and allies laud him as a consistent, dependable conservative. He is fiercely protective of business interests and committed to keeping taxes low in Texas — even if the resulting cutbacks are painful. He has become the face of Republicanism in one of the nation's reddest red states
Even the criticism they level at him will likely appeal to numerous on the right
His style raises a stream of ethical red flags. And despite his lengthy tenure, Perry can lay claim to few signature achievements, making him a more accomplished campaigner than leader.
The New York Times summarizes his campaign
.. Mr. Perry followed the classic strategy of front-runners, with a few new twists. He avoided debates with Mr. White and limited his attacks. He also skillfully harnessed the anti-incumbent sentiment in 2010, allying himself early on with the Tea Party and riding the wave of anger at deficit spending in Washington. And he has been able to run on the state’s economy, taking credit for its relatively good record of creating jobs.
But Mr. Perry was largely successful in defining the race as a referendum on Mr. Obama and the national Democratic Party. Mr. Perry turned out to be prescient when he became one of the few mainstream politicians to attend Tea Party rallies in April 2009, though he was ridiculed by comedians on national television at the time. At one rally, he famously expressed sympathy for some participants who wanted to secede from the union.
This man is has so much backing from corporate oil interests he is like Dick Cheney and George Bush rolled into one person. Does that scare you? It scares me!
Perry also has this crazy ability where NOTHING sticks to him. He is slick and charismatic.
But get to know him - here is a 10 part series from Texas' own Burnt Orange Report
There has not been a bigger or more important cover-up this election cycle, and perhaps for decades in Texas, than Rick Perry's refusal to come to grips and be honest about the $25 billion budget shortfall facing the state of Texas.
An investigative report by the Dallas Morning News showed that Rick Perry coordinated with two business partners to flip land he purchased and sold in order to profit more than $500,000. Perry covered-up this scandal by refusing to release the public listing agreement, attempting to hide the identity of the land buyer and hiding the fact that the buyer was a business partner with the original seller.
Rick Perry sells state government and public office to his campaign donors. His use of political appointees as arms of his campaign re-election team is one of the easiest and most thoroughly documented examples of his unending corruption.
I throw Rubio on there because I think that's where the GOP is headed strategy wide. They did the token woman-for-the-sake-of-a-woman thing in 2008 and now I think they will snag Marco Rubio for the similar reasons. He's a first term senator but then that didn't keep us from electing Obama!
