Friday night; and I'm back for one more run at this "party" thing....
For two weeks now, I've been disappointed as a classic car show
I've wanted to go to has been postponed due to rain.
This particular show is one of the biggest in the Northeast and usually has over a 1000 cars-----right here in my home town....
Now many of us here remember those "Classics" from the 50's & 60's----
soooo many memories.
Remember Dinah telling to See the USA in one...?
It brought us songs from
the Beach Boys.
It was the highlight in the movie American Graffitti
Who can forget how important these cars were in Dukes of Hazzard?
And, who didn't bring their girl or guy to a beach party in their "neat" car? Today you can't do some "things" in the front seats---like you could in the old days. Damn bucket seats......
And we know lots a things occurred in those cars.....
Let's take a look at a few favorites....
A WARNING--I'M BREAKING GW RULES---I'M POSTING IMAGES!!!!! SUE ME!!
In this instance, it makes it more effective.....
"Classic cars" today are simply the cars we grew up with....big, huge gas guzzling 300+ HP cars; that we washed & waxed practically every day, to impress someone, and to go do these things
Some were pretty basic like this Ford, or this Nash Rambler
Yes, those are actual "classics".
Now this is the exact car I had--color & style (actually, my Dad's)....
Unfortunately, I put a few "dings" in that one....actually...twice. Dad wasn't happy!!!!
This was the first, and last, time I ever went 100 MPH by myself. THEN when I stopped--my buddy in his car next to me, banged up my rear fender! Didn't drive for a month after that!!
Some liked the classic '55 Chevy....
Of course, we ALL admired the rich kid that had one of these...
But if you weren't a Chevy kind of person, you went for the beautiful "T-Bird"--cheaper too..
Some of us liked the even cheaper version of a sleek roadster/speedster---with the name "Mustang"----one of the hottest cars in it's debut....
Now, if your boyfriend was into speed & "hot cars", he may have gone for that souped up Charger...sorta like the Dukes of Hazzard
And, of course, there were a few that had the Beach Boys favorite===Lil' Deuce Coupe...
Now, truthfully---some here may even have had this beaut....LOL
Me? After those first years driving a really nice "classic"---I ended up with Ralph Nader's nemesis: The Corvair....
You may laugh at that---but it was the best car ever in gas mileage---and was super in the snows --up in NH. Of course---I almost killed myself in one; as I, ahem, fell asleep at the wheel, hit a guide post square in the front. No engine in the front-no protection. But, here I am.....Dad wasn't happy about that one either......
So......tell us about your fancy cars---or ones that your BF/GF or lover or whomever had during your time adoring cars.....(We no longer "adore" them...they cost too much----and they all look the same: Dull!!!)
Tell us your stories of troubles, accidents, romance, "flat tires", forgotten beer bottles, near misses, etc----all those crazy things that happened as we went Crusin'---back in the day......
THIS TIME ONLY YOU MAY EMBED SONGS AND/OR IMAGES----I'VE BROKEN THE RULE; SO YOU CAN TOO---MIGHT AS WELL PISS OFF EVERYONE TOGETHER!!!!!
