In a CNN interview that aired Tuesday afternoon, Newt Gingrich explains his political comeback:
I think that it was a big mistake on my part to try to bring in conventional consultants, because I am, much like Reagan and Margaret Thatcher, I'm such an unconventional political figure, that you really design a very unique campaign that fits the way I operate and what I'm trying to do.
Oh, so that's all. He just needed people to treat him like Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. And now that they are giving him the respect he knows he deserves, he's back on top again.
Sure, that makes tons of sense. Of course Newt's rise in the polls had nothing to do with sexual harassment charges, a nationally televised brain freeze or the fact that the base just hates the frontrunner ...
2:24 PM PT: If Newt were really cool (and if he really believed in the private sector) he'd say he was just like Steve Jobs.
