A few May Day pix, and an invitation to discuss revolutionary theory, principles, and practice...
For discussion in comments, I propose the following topics for consideration...
I'm assuming that most here on dkos are already at least somewhat familiar with the IWW, anarcho-syndicalism, anarcho-communism, and other socialist and communist tendencies, more or less, and if you are not, you'd be well advised to look into them.
Two important facts will quickly become apparent, from any such study.
1) For the most part, they tend to offer a scathing, but more or less objective and accurate critique of the many evils of capitalism.
2) You will also find that, for the most part, they tend to advocate electoral boycott, or, in some cases, splitting the vote with guaranteed loser "alternative" parties.
Now, many here on dkos come from such milieus, more or less. You know who you are, heh.
Most on the left have decided to engage in electoral struggle at this time, via the Democratic Party. Yet many have not.
I'd like to invite discussion on whether you think it's appropriate, or even necessary, at this time, to transcend that second fundamental principle that so many of our comrades so fervently embrace, and to instead now engage in electoral struggle, via the Democratic Party, here and now, in the USA, going into the 21st Century, and if so, how you propose we should do that, in terms of rhetoric and line, and how in practice, or how this fits, and/or contradicts, your fundamental political tendency and analysis.
I might also take it a step further, as to how we should relate to our comrades who have not yet seen the light, and remain intent on insisting that we should continue to advocate boycott and splitting.
Then, of course, it's just small leap to the real question I'm trying to get at here, which is whether it's really principled, or correct revolutionary practice, for those who continue to embrace that old boycott line, to lie one's ass off in clicking "Yes" on the ToS, just to gain access to this venue, in order to defiantly engage in ruthlessly slagging Obama and "teh Dems" without mercy, "on principle".
I'd have to say that the most trolling I've seen so far on dkos has Not been coming from the right. They usually get booted summarily by admin, or hammered down by HR autoban, fairly quickly.
The vast majority of trolling I'm seeing is coming from a purported left perspective, asserting a "right" to "criticize" and state "opinions", in clear defiance of ToS, whether blatantly, or more subtly, deliberately stating, or insinuating, an absolute non-viability of electoral struggle within the arenas of bourgeois monopoly corporate fascist commercial mass media "democracy"...and deliberately promulgating cynical defeatism and demoralization among Democrats, in that regard.
I might add that this is often couched in extremely subjective, unprincipled, opportunist oppositionalist, ad hominem hyperbole and personal insults.
If the most correct left line at this time, given the realpolitik, and the melting ice caps, is to bring principled solidarity to Obama and the Democrats, to crush the Republicans, to even have any hope whatsoever, for a change, for justice and peace, to save the planet...then what does that make those who stubbornly refuse to get on the bus?
And what should we do about that? Throw them under the bus? Kick them to the curb? Try to "reason" with them (good freakin' luck, lol), HR their jive ass, or what?
I have my opinions, but really do want to know what You think, heh...
