Following Saturday's
allegations that Arizona's Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu had threatened his gay ex-lover with deportation, Babeu made three things clear: he would not step down as sheriff, he would continue his bid for Congress,
and:
... the allegations are "completely false" and the only information mentioned in a Phoenix New Times article that's true is "I'm gay."
... and yet:
"Sheriff Babeu has stepped down from his volunteer position with the campaign so he can focus on the allegations against him," Romney spokesman Ryan Williams told The Republic in a statement. "We support his decision."
It sounds like Babeu plans to focus on his job and his campaign, so why is it he no longer has time to co-chair Mitt Romney's Arizona campaign?
