The daughter of Haitian immigrants is the Republican nominee for Utah's 4th congressional district.
Mia Love, a mayor of an "exurb" south of Salt Lake City, has won the Republican nomination for the 4th district congressional district.
More below the Half Pipe.
Finally, something interesting in Utah has happened this ski/snowboard season. After our crappy, inadequate snow; Republicans have nominated the daughter of Haitian immigrants for congress.
Utah's Republican attorney general called her a "novelty".
She will face Democrat Jim Matheson. Well, in any other state; Matheson would not be considered a Democrat. But we take what we can get around here. He moved from his old district into a new district created after the 2010 census.
More about her here.
Just to prove that, yes, she is a real Republican; she was late in filing her campaign finance reports and they contained errors. The comments at this link contain some interesting comments. They may be legitimate or they may be trolls. I wouldn't know. I avoid Utah County unless I am taking my kids to the dinosaur museum down there.
