Germany sets new solar power record, institute says
BERLIN | Sat May 26, 2012 7:02pm BST
(Reuters) - German solar power plants produced a world record 22 gigawatts of electricity per hour - equal to 20 nuclear power stations at full capacity - through the midday hours on Friday and Saturday, the head of a renewable energy think tank said.

The idea is that the opponents of green energy most particularly solar are fond of telling us solar has limited market viability because it can't sustain itself in a free market without leeching off the taxpayer. Concurrently they never mention the nearly $72 billion dollars of energy subsidies as expressed in this graphic, that the fossil fuel industry receives, whereas solar receives only $1 billion of that $73 billion dollar pie. The reason that you don't hear about this in the American corporate owned media is that, they have become a big part of the problem. They are a part of the larger so called American corporate structure that is benefiting from this skewed system, as they are themselves owned by the 1%. Even though this story was covered by Reuters (international wire service), you're reading about it on a Daily Kos diary because the corporate media doesn't want to cover it substantially. There is no state owned media such as the BBC to report issues on behalf of the public as advocated for by the former president of Columbia University,
Lee Bollinger, who endorses an American BBC type network broadcasting on behalf of the American people instead of American media outlets purely being owned outright or supported by the subsidies of corporate America.
As what may only be described as a conscious decision, by de facto the American
corporate owned media has taken the decision to censor this Reuters story on
Germany's new solar world record. As such this diary calls on the activism
of occupiers to Occupy the blogosphere in order to disseminate this story.
Still further if we are going to have a meaningful discussion on any facet of the Occupy Movement to include Occupying for green energy, don't we owe it to ourselves to first look at how the media is covering the Occupy Movement. In doing so don't we have to remember that the American for profit plutocrat owned media is a direct instrumentality of the 1%. Its primary focus is to indoctrinate us as consumers of their media into concision, wherein we are indoctrinated that is to say brainwashed into being so concise, because anything you do or say is sandwiched in between two commercials. This means that you are effectively speaking bludgeoned into agreeing with the dogma of the day in support of the powers that be, or you are made to sound like an absolute lunatic, because you can't possibly, given the straitjacket of concision explain yourself adequately. Therefore the very structure of the American media paradigm is to provide containment for dissenting opinion, rather than promulgating and disseminating free speech by providing a meaningful vehicle of communication for dissenting opinion.
Germany has become the richest country in the European Union. A position arrived at through high rates of unionization, Germany has become the world's third largest exporter. Also its non-unionized workforce to include even its low wage workers, as a human right enjoy cradle to grave medical, dental, paid sick leave, paid maternity leave and 4 weeks paid vacation, along with subsidized childcare, eldercare, and with university tuition that is so cheap that American students pay more in books than German students pay in tuition per annum. Compared to America, given the fairer distribution of wealth people can elect to pay more for clean, green solar energy as a sensible lifestyle choice.
Quote:"I can't help but think that the relative income equality in places like Germany helps the programs to be so successful and popular—you're going to be much more likely to accept higher costs if you feel like everyone's more or less in it together. This is the case in places like Denmark, too, where there's more equality and publicly tolerated higher electricity costs......

As an MBA in Marketing I have been educated to understand the modus operandi of American media so called public relations, which in fact is nothing more than propaganda, which had its beginning with Edward Bernays who is the nephew of Sigmund Freud. Concurrently I was educated to understand the externalities of markets are such that they can have far reaching deleterious effects on the environment, because it may well be that markets cannot be trusted as an energy delivery system, even if the problems of energy subsidies are overcome. Even in the hypothetical we are left with the fact that if markets are able to deliver a product between producer and consumer, that is a mutually advantageous proposition, the externalities of the market, given the reality of the profit motive, markets will always fight against sensible environmental regulation. Ergo the idea of markets being a benevolent distribution mechanism for energy becomes a proposition surely at tension with itself.
But given the corporate ownership of the American media this is not a discussion that can be held in the public square of America's airwaves. If the banks fail, if the auto industry fails, if a state government fails, the federal taxpayer can bail them out. But if the environment fails with its far reaching deleterious effects, there can be no bailout for humanity. At which point the question must be asked are commercial markets really a safe delivery mechanism for the energy needs of the public, given the environmental risks, shouldn't energy delivery be entrusted exclusively to government, instead of largely unaccountable corporatist tyrannies.
At this point I'd like to remind you of an inconvenient truth. Two years ago in 2010 an ice sheet 4 times the size of Manhattan Island broke off, and as such sent alarm bells off around the world telling us clearly that the planet is in trouble due to irresponsible corporate citizens, whose actions have promulgated global warming type events according to the Scientific community.
A giant ice island has broken off the Petermann Glacier in northern Greenland.
A University of Delaware researcher says the floating ice sheet covers 100
square miles -- more than four times the size of New York's Manhattan Island.

Clearly this Daily Kos diary will attract dissenting opinion which is to be expected. It will also attract so called paid professional bloggers who will troll this kind of progressive, environmental diary espouses the adoption of green energy. They will tell you that as an article of faith with religious zealotry that the invisible hand of the market must be trusted to provide a solution. Clearly this is an outright prevarication with no truth to it whatsoever. The truth is unaccountable private corporate tyrannies are responsible for getting us in this mess. Additionally I've been educated to understand that the so called American free market economy has a substantial illusory quality attached to it as the state dynamic sector in all developed economies is responsible for the affluence that we see. That in fact any economy without a vibrant state dynamic sector, as espoused by Libertarians, is in fact a third world economy. Briefly let's take for example what we are using at the moment to communicate with which is the computer which came out of the state dynamic sector developed by the Dept of Defense, with over 3 decades of public investment.
At which point that technology paid for by the taxpayer was finally turned over to the corporatist to be patented and marketed for private profit. Exactly the same thing is true of numerous other innovations, so why shouldn't it be true for government subsidies of green energy, especially solar. Why don't the Corporatists own up to the fact that if it weren't for their corporate subsidies providing them research and development at taxpayer cost, they would likely be out of business. In fact many of them would never have even been in business, and that's the real truth about the American economy, that the corporatists in America really don't want to own up to, yet it is the truth, which is the arcane truth that is withheld from the great American working class who through exploitation of low wage slavery are prevented from fully participating in the wealth that they themselves generate through their own hard work in the neo-feudalist state of America in 2012. This has swollen the ranks of the nouveau poor to the point where the question must be asked, is anyone safe from the unbridled avarice of America's 1%. Is the planet safe from the reckless abandonment of their robber baron tactics!
To win in America against the GOP lead class warfare, all we have to do is to care about each other and stick together! If we are looking for change we must look to the Occupy movement to provide that peaceful nonviolent approach to change in helping to elect better progressive politicians to public office. The Occupy movement and the
American unions are the last great hope of the American working class dream!!
PS: Another diary that I wrote that deserves your attention pertains to the creation of high wage green jobs that cannot be outsourced through the implementation of hi-speed rail in America, which is badly lacking behind the European Union.
Title: Why is the airtravelers refrain don't grope my stuff preferable to all aboard with hi-speed rail!
