Yes, I know that there are folks who detest Playboy Magazine for its pictorial content. This has nothing whatsoever to do with that. Even if you can't stand what Hugh M. Hefner started publishing almost 60 years ago, he has written an editorial which I believe most folks here can support.
And yes, it's about sex.
Let's have a peek at it below the Fleur de Kos, shall we?
In an editorial published online [WARNING: There is some skin as a background] (and maybe in the magazine, I don't know) and dated August 21, 2012, Hugh Hefner has written something which exposes the right-wing Republican movement against our sexual rights for what it honestly is - religiously-based sexual bigotry disguised as laws to protect religious freedom.
I'll excerpt some of it here for you while respecting the "three paragraph" rule of Fair Use:
The fight for gay marriage is, in reality, a fight for all of our rights. Without it, we will turn back the sexual revolution and return to an earlier, puritanical time.
Let's face it. He's right. The right-wing is against all forms of contraception, abortion under any circumstances, and equal rights for our GLBTQ brothers and sisters. The thin edge of the wedge is Gay Rights. Because they think that that's the easiest one to get past the rest of America. But that's only the start. If they succeed there, they're going to be emboldened by that success. That's when they'll come after abortion, contraception in any form, and anything else which offends their personal sexual sensibilities. This probably includes something that you already enjoy.
Nearly 50 years ago in the pages of this magazine I warned that “when religion rather than reason dictates legislation, do not expect logic with your law.” Today, in every instance of sexual rights falling under attack, you’ll find legislation forced into place by people who practice discrimination disguised as religious freedom. Their goal is to dehumanize everyone’s sexuality and reduce us to using sex for the sole purpose of perpetuating our species. To that end, they will criminalize your entire sex life.
Emphasis mine.
I'm going to stop quoting Mr. Hefner there. The article is short. The ideas cut to the bone. I can't argue against anything he has written there, and I believe that you will find the entire piece to be interesting as well as supportive of "our side" of the issues while exposing the Republican platform for the bigotry that it is.
Please read it. Decide for yourself.

EDIT: Okay, so I abandoned the computer at about 2:30 AM last night. Comments here had died off. I couldn't get to sleep until after 5 AM due to back pain. So I wake up about an hour ago and POOF! I'm on the Wrecked List! My gratitude to all of you - not for me making the list, but for you folks being open-minded enough to read what Hef had to say without dismissing him out-of-hand. Also, my thanks to whoever edited my tags.
