On December 4th, 2012, Piers Morgan had two guests on his show to discuss global warming. Bill Nye and Marc Morano were his guests. Unfortunately, Mr. Nye could barely get a word in against Mr. Morano, who continued to spew out a litany of ani-climate change rhetoric. Within hours, a transcript of the show with hyperlinks to references was posted on the NewsBusters web site (managed by the Media Research Center).
Mr. Morano lined up over 40 arguments (download .htm file for viewing), with details within the hyperlinked transcript. I completed a first pass at his arguments and their references. This table is incomplete, but demonstrate his modus operandi of manipulating the facts to support a pre-conceived agenda. You don’t have to dig deep in his reference to find contrary evidence to his claims. Mr. Morano, his web site Climate Depot, and the Media Research Center’s claims are in support of an anti-science cabal in the conservative movement.
I am looking for help in filling out this contrary analysis table (PDF of table w/o hyperlinks) through crowd source competitive analysis. I will continue to work from the top-down, but if anyone is willing to research these points, send me the response and I will include it in an update of the table.
The conservative movement’s approach has been “the best defense is a strong offense” and attacking climatologists and other scientists who disagree with their pro-carbon fuel agenda. While this is a common tactic for lawyers, it is ineffective against scientific fact. Over years and decades, they create an extensive audit trail in the media that demonstrate anti-science behavior. This audit trail can be used to deconstruct their arguments. They are wrong, over and over again.
My bet is that if this gets traction the transcript (w/hyperlinks) will be deleted.
