Joey Scar tweets:
Wayne LaPierre's views on guns is as extreme as Paul Krugman's views on debt. Discuss.
Krugman
himself finds this amusing, and is as or more concerned that a once respected economist, Douglas Holtz-Eakin, is still selling "expansionary austerity."
The problem with Joey Scar, though, is that he is perceived as a "moderate," and therefore his horrible deficit position gains credibility. For example, a colleague (an attorney) who considers himself a "moderate" said "Scarborough is right on this one." Yes, Scar has moderated his positions on gun control and maybe climate change, but his economic policies are strictly from his 1990's incarnation as an impeachin,' government shutdownin' Gingrich acolyte.
The LaPierre comparison, of course, is particularly offensive on many levels, but the nerve of the guy daring to criticize Krugman even in moderate terms, let alone this pernicious comparison, is disgraceful.
