The U.S. is the only first world country that believes some of its citizens are unworthy of receiving rudimentary health care (such as vaccinations), not to mention more involved forms of medical help. Sadly, none of the important people in Washington seem to be particularly concerned about that anymore.
Don’t take my word for this; actions speak louder than words.
The amount we spend on health per capita is about twice as much as other rich countries, but we get less for it. A lot less. For example, our life expectancy rates are shorter than any other wealthy country – and shorter than some poor countries as well. Actually, we are in 50th place when it comes to longevity, according to the CIA World Factbook. That’s right – 50th!
To put it mildly, we are not doing a very good job (yet) when it comes to our health care system.
Please pester your congresscritters about this – hard and often.
Thank you.
