And then there were none.
Today Illinois officially loses its title of concealed carry holdout, and joins the rest of the nation (and the other 45 shall-issue states).
Update link:
The Illinois Democratically controlled house lead off with a 77-31 override of Governor Quinn's (D) amendatory veto. A few hours later, the Democratically controlled senate followed though with a 41-17 override.
The bill includes the following requirements:
-Must possess an Illinois FOID card (Illinois version of the UBC).
-$150 dollar fee, permit is good for 5 years.
-16 hours of training (8 from a mandatory class, 8 more from other approved training).
-training includes reasonable use of force/ deadly use of force training, and a live-fire range test.
The governor has more or less alienated the rest of the Democratic politicians in Illinois outside of Chicago. It appears he'll be running in the next gubernatorial Democratic primary against a Daley (A Chicago mayoral dynasty) and possibly a Madigan . For those unfamiliar with Illinois politics, that would be akin to running for President against both a Clinton and a Kennedy.
