Note: title is a rhetorical question. If you aren't angry, you aren't paying attention - and I know you guys are paying attention, because you're reading this.
So: do you want to do something that will hit them where they live?
A large part of the Tea Party is local notables - think big fish in small towns.
Think Mr. Potter from "It's a Wonderful Life". Or Simon Legree from "Uncle Tom's Cabin". Or Rufus Ryker from "Shane". Men whose livelihood depends on low-cost labor, where they control the capital and everyone else works for them. More importantly, their self-worth is tied to being the big fish. And there's nothing they hate more than the ginormous Megalodon that is the Federal Government swimming by and telling them what to do.
That's why they hate Obamacare.
It's why they hate the EPA.
And it's why they hate the minimum wage.
So ... if you REALLY want to stick it to the Tea Party, and really hit them where they live:
Raise the minimum wage. Not only is it LONG overdue and the right thing to do, it hits the Tea Party in their wallets, and it hits them in their sense of entitlement. Nothing pisses them off like telling them they have to treat their "inferiors" with a little bit of respect.
Let's push for this as part of the December budget. Democrats have to learn one thing from Republicans: you don't get what you want without asking.
