The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, popularly known as food stamps, is set be downsized starting Nov. 1 when a temporary funding boost to the program enacted in 2009 is scheduled to end, resulting in cuts affecting every U.S. household using the program.

The cuts, amounting to about $5 billion, will likely take effect as scheduled because chances of Congress restoring additional funding -- as President Barack Obama and some congressional members had earlier proposed -- appear remote at a time when Republicans have demanded even deeper cuts to the program.

That`s right my hungry children, our Republican protectors want more cuts to your plates. Personally I am taking a hit myself next week when a letter I received from my chefs in government told my household to tighten the belt. But you know?, its funny the political finger-pointing I find this morning.

Yeah, Democrats voted overwhelmingly for these cuts. Now they are protesting. Remember this quote?

He voted for it before he voted against it? Here some more of the same.
Democrats Protest $5 Billion Food Stamp Cut They Voted For.....
A group of nine Democratic members of the House of Representatives held a press conference outside the Capitol on Tuesday to demand Congress avert an automatic food stamp cut scheduled to take effect on Friday.
If you recall like I do, back then President Barack Obama told this household and all hungry folks not to worry because he would restore these benefits for the poor and hungry before the deadline for what we are witnessing today took effect...meh

To be very honest I am not fazed by the cuts. I know because I have learned to survived with less of what I have today. I will not starve. Unfortunately not everyone who is hungry today is like me, nor do they have my resilience and survival skills. I speak especially for the children. They are the ones targeted by these assholes Republicans. You see, they will grow up and vote Demorcat, eh? These Democrities must be stopped at all costs.

The first bill took money allocated for future food stamp use and used it instead to prevent states from laying off teachers. Democrats supported the bill grudgingly, lamenting that it would cause a food stamp cut in 2014. When it came time to support a second bill that raided future food stamp funds once again, pushing the cut to November 2013, they protested -- at least at first.
But then President Obama came out sprinkling the hungry with hope. President Barack Obama smoothed things over in a meeting at the White House, because the bill in question was the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act -- a priority of the first lady's. The measure provided free lunches and updated nutrition standards for schools.

On Tuesday, Rep. Barbara Lee (D) told HuffPost the president had pledged to support replacing the SNAP funds, a vow he fulfilled in subsequent budget blueprints that didn't become law. Congress and the White House have been otherwise silent about the issue for the past three years.

Republicans it seems to me, beat the Democrats to the table..`no food for you Kid'.

Rep Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn) pivoted from November's food stamp decrease to Republican demands that food stamps be reduced by 5 percent, or $40 billion over 10 years, though the two things are completely separate.
"This is about people wanting to make a $40 billion cut in the food stamp program," DeLauro said, "not to put in place a Hunger-Free Kids Act, but in fact to take food out of the mouths of our children, or seniors, and the disabled. A much different time, a much different place, and a much different set of circumstances."
I can understand the sadness that must be felt in many of our poor citizen`s domains. It is sickening to be sure. Why does this issue that involves the children has to be used by Republicans just so they can magnify their loathing of our Black President. If anyone disagrees with my view on this. Feel free to give your take in the comments sections. I will, as always respect your view.

I don`t know about my fellow Kossacks, but I am taking this very personal for the children`s sake.. I apologize to each and every child who will go to bed hungry after this shit materializes.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
