In her latest attempt to shed the "carpet bagger" label in her uphill battle to unseat Senator Mike Enzi (R. WY) in the GOP primary, Liz Cheney (R. WY) has released a new ad highlighting the Cheney family history in Wyoming:

The ad, titled "Daughters," features Cheney's three daughters recounting the Cheney family's "deep roots" in Wyoming starting when Cheney's descendants first came to the state in 1852. They also mention that former Vice President Dick Cheney hails from the state, where he was a representative in Congress.
"We're proud of our families deep roots in Wyoming," one of Cheney's daughters said in the ad.
The ad is a clear response to criticism that Cheney doesn't really have a strong connection to Wyoming and only recently moved there in order to run for Sen. Mike Enzi's (R-WY) Senate seat.
The ad also comes as Cheney tries to move national attention away from an increasingly public feud between her and her sister Mary over same-sex marriage. Liz Cheney has repeatedly said she opposes same-sex marriage. Mary, who is openly lesbian and is married to her partner, is reportedly no longer on speaking terms with her sister over this position. - TPM, 11/25/13
Nice try, Liz. Speaking of the Cheney family feud, Dan Savage was on the season finale of Real Time with Bill Maher last Friday and he didn't have any nice words for Mary Cheney:

“It’s funny that you need a Dick to adjudicate a dispute between a lesbian and straight sister,” Savage told Maher.
While Liz Cheney faces an uphill climb in her bid for a senatorial seat in Wyoming, Savage said, Mary Cheney still had a history of supporting not just her father during his tenure as vice president, but 2012 Republican presidential Mitt Romney. Savage repeatedly mentioned that Mary Cheney both voted for Romney and donated $2,500 to his campaign.
“Unlike her sister, Liz, who’s saying ‘it’s a state issue,’ Romney wanted to rewrite the U.S. Constitution to ban same-sex marriage in every state, even overturning gay marriages in states where it had already been legalized,” Savage said. “Romney was 1,000 times worse than Liz, and Mary wrote that f*cker a check.” - Raw Story, 11/22/13
Well said.
