Received this e-mail today from Senator Tom Udall (D. NM) regarding the minimum wage:
What if I told you that there was a way to lift millions of low-income Americans out of poverty and boost our national economy? Well -- there is.
Right now there is a push to raise the federal minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $10.10 an hour. This wage increase would give millions of working families across the country more opportunities to get ahead and work their way into the middle class.
And it would be good for the economy, investing in local businesses and communities will stimulate job growth that our economic recovery relies on and our country needs.
Join me: Call on Congress to raise the minimum wage. Click here to sign the petition:

If you work full-time in America, you should not have to worry about putting food on the table or affording the basic necessities.
But as it stands, the federal minimum wage has not kept pace with inflation for over 40 years. And a family of three making the current federal minimum wage still doesn’t earn enough to stay above the poverty line.
Congress needs to fix this problem, and we can. Add your voice to mine and tell Congress that it’s time to give low-income individuals and families a raise:

All Americans deserve the chance to work hard and move into the middle class. Thank you for all of your support -- it is truly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Tom
