Republican Senate candidate Tillis: Republicans have to 'divide and conquer' the poor

That's North Carolina House Speaker Tom Tillis, candidate for U.S. Senate, talking to a group of Republicans in 2011 about how to really stick it to the poors. They have to figure out a way, he says, to make the deserving poor like a "woman with cerebral palsy" turn on and look down on all the people who "choose to get into a condition that makes them dependent on the government." And those people dependent on the government?

"At some point, you’re on your own. We may end up taking care of those babies, but we're not going to take care of you."

Nice to know he may want to take care of the babies. Yes, he is talking pitting the poor against each other. It fits in with his bragging in a campaign ad that he "stopped Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion cold. It’s not happening in North Carolina, and it’s because of Thom Tillis." Because, of course, the 500,000 people in his state who are in the Medicaid gap don't deserve health care.

As Ed Kilgore says, this is the Republican establishment's candidate for Senate, which "tells you a lot about them, eh?" It tells me they're all sociopaths.
