"But you, children of space, you restless in rest, you shall not be trapped nor tamed.
Your house shall be not an anchor but a mast.
It shall not be a glistening film that covers a wound, but an eyelid that guards the eye.
You shall not fold your wings that you may pass through doors, nor bend your heads that they strike not against a ceiling, nor fear to breathe lest walls should crack and fall down.
You shall not dwell in tombs made by the dead for the living. " -Khalil Gibran
Excerpt From the Prophet By Khalil Gibran
What does true liberation mean? It seems much easier to look at the outside world and demand change than it is to examine my own heart and my own behaviors. I know that if everyone really did this then there would be no need to try and change the world. The world would change itself.
My challenge to myself today and to anyone who would like to join me in this, is to withhold any critique or judgement of anyone and anything today and simply examine myself. The control freak in me is sure that the world will crumble without my astute analysis to hold it together. But there is another part of me that hopes for liberation from the tyranny I fear the most - the tyranny within.
If you want to try this, feel free to let me know how it goes.
Good journeys.
