Many of us start our days with coffee...that nectar of the gods!
Is there anything better? That we can talk about here, I mean. That first whiff of coffee in the morning, that says, "Your day can now begin. I am ready for you...come to me....pour me in your cup....enjoy the darkness that is coffee..."
I suspect that coffee may be the purview of Basement Cat. But that's OK with me.
As The Man has learned, and has accepted as part of life with The Marti....
And not just any coffee, either. This girl does not do decaf, that abomination of wretchedness...
Bearing in mind that not everyone likes coffee...
those of us who do, really, really really like it. Can't get started in the morning without it.
But once we do... well, now...
Now we have scientific backup for our caffeine addiction!
It makes having that fourth cup a lot easier!
When I first learned to make coffee, there was only one way to do it in our house. Stove top percolator, ice cold water, and a close eye on waiting for it to boil. There is no smell quite as disheartening as boiled over, burnt coffee. I learned that the hard way. Now there are so many ways to make coffee, it's hard to believe it's even possible to get a bad cup! Cold press, drip makers, French press, Keurig, and heaven alone knows whatall.
Back then, there were only a few brands of coffee. Not including the dreaded decaf, which was for lightweights and those whose doctors were punishing them for their misspent youth by denying them the "real" thing.
Now, though....the choices are almost limitless. If you don't want to make your own, there is Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, and every gas station seems to have a coffee bar. For the money, I prefer the gas station coffee I can get locally to the stuff that Dunc's (locally) is passing off as 'dark roast'.
There is Colombian coffee...Peruvian coffee...Jamaican coffee...I'm waiting for Alaskan coffee to make an appearance!
What, then, is your coffee preference? Do you start your day with it? How many cups? Or do you prefer some other beverage to start your day?
As always, KTK is an open thread. Whatever is on your mind tonight, bring it to the table and we'll give it a go. Even knock-knock jokes are welcome! See how easy this is?
