This is the trajectory we are on, as a nation. This is not because of anything Vladimir Putin says or does, nor is it because of Daash (the so-called "ISIS") neither of which poses any direct threat to the USA, nor to you nor to me, nor to anyone outside the war-torn regions that our leaders have played a large part in creating.
We are on this path because enormous trans-national corporations (not particularly American) and their allies in our government have decreed that we shall be upon it. We (the public) have not been, nor will we ever be consulted as to whether we should be on this path or not.
These decisions are made far above and beyond any influence we, the public, might have upon them. Our democracy (such as it is) notwithstanding. World peace is not the goal of our most powerful national leaders -- dominance is their goal, and nothing less will do.
Our communication networks, the very nervous system of our society, (NBC, ABC, CNN, etc.) are literally owned by transnational corporations, which are driven mercilessly by money and profit and very little else. Their executives can afford to be comfortably "amoral" or "objective" as long as the money keeps rolling in. War is especially profitable for them, so that a natural synergy develops between their interests and the interests of our enormous "defense" establishment.
Which is in fact defending no one from no one, but exists almost solely for the purpose of perpetuating itself. Anyone looked at the perks a retired general gets? But my oh my, how much patriotic nonsense is espoused, in warning us of immanent "threats" we must face from terrorists, and even from Islam itself.
America, what in the world has come over you?
