I live in the great state of Arkansas, it is now a red state, and I have to be careful to not piss off my neighbors when the subject of flag burning comes up. I was talking with my landlady yesterday and the subject came up. Being a former Marine, there are few things more important to me than loyalty. Loyalty to my country, my state, my family and my friends. The stars and stripes are a symbol of all the blood, wounds and lives shed to maintain this great nation and I would stand and die for it.
I told my landlady that burning the flag is a right of anyone, just as much as protesting at the funeral of serviceman by Westboro Baptist Church or a Planned Parenthood Clinic. I condemn all such protests, but realize a long time ago that if we outlaw dissent, we condemn ourselves to one day not having the liberty to have dissent on ideas or things that we believe.
Having Sen. Cottonbrain and Bozoman as my Senators is an embarrassment to me as a citizen of this state. I will be doing all I can in the future to see that they have other employment when their first, and only term is over.
