Scott Walker, ever-eager to find some situation in which he can pretend to have a foreign policy, announces his latest idea: Bar the Chinese president from visiting America
in retaliation for this morning's Dow Jones slide.
Gov. Walker: Cancel Chinese President's State Visit to U.S.
Spartanburg, S.C. — Ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinxing's state visit to the U.S. next month, Gov. Scott Walker released the below statement.
"Americans are struggling to cope with the fall in today's markets driven in part by China's slowing economy and the fact that they actively manipulate their economy. Rather than honoring Chinese President Xi Jinping with an official state visit next month, President Obama should focus on holding China accountable over its increasing attempts to undermine U.S. interests. Given China's massive cyberattacks against America, its militarization of the South China Sea, continued state interference with its economy, and persistent persecution of Christians and human rights activists, President Obama needs to cancel the state visit. There's some serious work to be done rather than pomp and circumstance. We need to see some backbone from President Obama on U.S.-China relations."
Well, those are some mighty serious concerns we have with China and the Chinese president. It's a shame we won't be able to meet with him because the market slid a thousand points and President Walker has cancelled everything in a fit of pique.
So there's what Scott Walker thinks a foreign policy looks like. The only thing that makes it more dignified than Donald Trump Instagramming his stock market response is that it comes in a press release with those little hashmarks at the end. Donald Trump? No hashmarks. Scott Walker? Hashmarks, baby. Three of them, read 'em and know that Scott Walker could hashmark the hell out of a foreign policy if you'd only let him.
