My friend once told me a story concerning why her sister is so annoying. She said one time, in elementary school, their parents had said if both girls cleaned out their rooms in an hour or so, they'd all go see a movie. My friend finished whatever she was doing, then went upstairs to go clean her room, only to discover that her sister had wrecked both of their rooms such that they'd never finish cleaning in time. My friend asked her sister why she would do something like that, because they would both be upset at missing the movie. Her sister replied: "Because I don't want you to be happy."
Now, imagine if a Fortune 50 CEO did this to a former First Lady, Senator, and Secretary of State. Imagine the stakes aren't going to the movies, they're being the leader of the free world. Now open your eyes. Magic, I know everything.
Bill Clinton did not run in 1992 because he wanted to make sure no one else could claim the "has a daughter whose name starts with C" niche of the candidacy. Similarly, Hillary Clinton is not running in 2016 simply so no other woman can run on the basis of being a woman. And Hillary isn't running on the basis of being a woman, she's running because she's a really good politician and she really, really really really wants to be the best. Most people are OK with that, it's what the presidential race is for. Choose the best on their own merits. So a good way to put yourself on the same level of Hillary, or at least in the 1000 mile radius, is to run to be the best. A bad way to do this is to run so Hillary can't say she should win 'cause she's a woman. Which is not what Hillary's saying.
Carly Fiorina's behavior borders on sexism at this point. Women who hate women are unattractive to the electorate. She is out to turn the general election into a catfight, whereby she should win simply because she'll play as a woman and take Hillary's advantage. Carly Fiorina is not running for anything, she's running against Hillary and against all of modern feminism. By making it so that being a woman is somehow a liability, being a woman becomes a liability. It's a thing. Hillary is different because she's a woman, and to a certain extent, that's true. But Hillary's tough and smart and she plays at a much higher level than any man, woman or other out there. So to have a fruit fly like Carly Fiorina harping at her to come fight like a girl does exactly two things: it makes Carly Fiorina look like a girl, and it makes looking like a girl look bad.
Carly Fiorina believes she should be the nominee because she is a woman. Her sole qualification is her gender. She believes the best way to fight a woman is to be a woman. She believes Hillary Clinton will get pity votes and win if she's against a man. She believes, then, that Hillary Clinton can't properly face a man. And she's decided, because she's rich, that she should be able to call out to the world, that hey, Hillary Clinton's a woman! And so am I, I'm a woman, too! So let's isolate the women because they shouldn't be playing with the men. It's really disgusting. I really hate it, I do. It's like in that Always superbowl ad, when they had the old people demonstrate "running like a girl" and then the young girls. The old people would flail around and flap their hands, and the girls would just run. Suck it up, Carly, just run like everyone else. Don't bail out because you can't handle it, and say you should win for a fucking stupid reason. Win because you're good at business (not really, at least Ben Carson was a good neurosurgeon) and politics (not really, at least move to an easy district like Hillary) and experienced (not really) and you have a good success story (minus the husbands). Because if a single little girl grows up to believe you should be a party nominee simply because of your gender, then something is rotten in this world and Ms. Carly Fiorina, it started with you.
