South Carolina Republicans are holding their presidential primary today (the Democrats vote a week from today), and we’re liveblogging the results. Polls close at 7 PM ET.
Results: AP (statewide) | AP (by county) | NYT | Politico
Rubio currently leads Cruz by 967 votes with 98 percent of precincts in. At this point, it may not matter who takes the silver with things so close and the Rubio comeback narrative already in flight.
46 precincts are out. 12 are in Florence (Cruz 29-19 over Rubio), 6 in Sumter (Cruz 22-20), 13 in York, (Cruz 25-20). Second place is doable, but not much room left.
99 percent in, and Rubio has 961 vote lead over Cruz. 33 precincts left.
It looks like we’re going to need to wait a while to find out who won the pretty meaningless second place, and we’re calling it a night. Thanks for joining us: We’ll be back Tuesday for the Nevada GOP caucus and next Saturday for the South Carolina Democratic primary!
