Have you been frustrated watching Water Protectors fighting battles they thought they’d won BEFORE the Civil War? Do you want to stand in solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux tribe as they protect their land, their culture, and their future? Well, now you can.
It is not possible, nor even desirable for everyone in support of the Water Protectors to go to North Dakota. But it is possible to support them financially while broadcasting their struggle in the face of a national media blackout.
The tribes have formed the Red Owl Legal Collective and you can contribute to them right now.
If your parents were immigrants. These people are fighting for rights they won almost a hundred and fifty years before your parents arrived.
If your grandparents were immigrants. These people are fighting for rights they won over a hundred years before your grandparents arrived.
If your great-grandparents were immigrants. These people are fighting for rights they won more than fifty years before your great-grandparents arrived.
If your great-grandparents arrived on these shores during the mass immigration at the turn of the 20th century, these people are fighting for rights they won before your great great grandparents were even born.
If you are descended from slaves, these people are fighting for rights they won more than a decade before the Emancipation Proclamation.
If you belong to a DAR family, these people earned their rights the same way your forefathers did.
In the final analysis, we all came over on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.
If you support the rights of these people to protect the water vital to their life and their future, you need to step up and donate.
The Red Owl Legal Collective needs your support. They need you when they need you and they need you now. Here is where the money will go:
Support coordination of criminal and civil litigation for the brave Water Protectors at Standing Rock.
I have checked with the National Lawyer’s Guild Mass Defense team. They vouch for the Red Owl Legal Collective. That’s good enough me. It should be good enough for you.
Now is the time. Open your hearts. Open your wallets.
