In her concession speech yesterday, Hillary Clinton showed extraordinary grace. So did President Obama in a speech later in the day.
I'm glad Obama and Clinton were gracious. The political moment demanded that of them.
But me? NO. WAY.
My mantra now and for the next four years: No Compromise With The Party Of Trump.
Absolute opposition. Whatever they are for, I'm against. The party that nominated and elected Donald J Trump to the presidency of the United States must be opposed, absolutely and unalterably, from the bottom to the top of the ticket, in every venue, from now until he is out of office.
It’s time to run every campaign, from city councilor or drain commissioner to Senator, as a campaign against Trump and Trumpism. It’s time to drive Republicans out of office, at every level, wherever and whenever we can.
And if we show up at the polls, empowered by our outrage, WE CAN. Republicans rode the wave of their fake Tea Party, built on knee-jerk opposition to the first Black President in our history, to electoral victories across the board in 2010.
It's time now for a New Tea Party. A real Tea Party that reflects the diverse America I know and love.
In a couple of months, Trump will be inaugurated in Washington DC. Will there be protests? You can count on it.
I'd like to see a crowd of a million or more standing in DC on January 20, 2017, voicing our full-throated opposition to the horrendous event that will occur that day.
It’s time to start organizing and coordinating our protests. It’s time to start strategizing those protests. Insuring that they are both loud and peaceful, and most of all, on message. The message: SAY NO TO THE PARTY OF TRUMP.
It’s time to start putting constant, strategic pressure on wavering Democrats in the House and Senate to stand with us, the people, and refuse to compromise on any matter, great or small, with the Party of Trump.
It’s time to start cultivating a political culture of permanent activism that will get our side to the voting booth in small-bore off elections, the places where real power in this country is so often decided.
It's time to say NO.
