The incoming leader of the Senate Democrats, Chuck Schumer, has weighed in on the possibility that his fellow senator and gym buddy Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III will be Donald Trump's attorney general.
Tough questions are not quite going to be enough for the guy who opposed the Violence Against Women Act and the repeal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law. Who failed to garner enough Republican votes to be appointed a federal judge because of his racism. Who falsely prosecuted black political activists in Alabama for registering blacks to vote when he was a U.S. attorney in Alabama.
It’s good you have concerns, Sen. Schumer. Yeah, ask the “tough questions,” but make those tough questions part of the record that shows why Democrats united to prevent his confirmation. This is a major test of your leadership, whether you will stand up for all Americans against the 21st century re-institutionalization of white supremacy.
