Hillary’s story has been one of resilience — bouncing back in the face of defeat. Same with her husband, Bill. They are like phoenixes: rising again and again from the ashes. Never count out a Clinton.
Both Clintons are admittedly flawed. All humans are. But at the core of both Clintons are two people who genuinely care for the disadvantaged. And though they have had to work within the context and culture of conservative America, sometimes having to compromise, they have tried to make progress wherever and whenever they could. Many tend to forget both Bill and Hillary came from humble beginnings and only want to give back to a country that has given them so much. That’s why in 2008 Hillary had an emotion moment in New Hampshire:
The GOP has spent millions of dollars vilifying Hillary Clinton. Karl Rove has successfully turned young liberals against the Brady Campaign, Planned Parenthood, and the Human Rights Campaign. But the longer the campaign continues, the longer voters have to discover the authentic Hillary Rodham Clinton. A woman who has, despite her flaws, done her best to produce real results for real people.
In 1993, the health insurance companies and Republicans spent millions trying to stop Hillarycare, yet her pragmatism shined through when she helped create and pass the Children’s Health Insurance Program, giving 8 million children health insurance.
Fighting inequality has been a lifelong cause for Hillary Clinton, starting during her days at the Children’s Defense Fund:
-
First Lady of Arkansas: Hillary
successfully reformed education and healthcare, worked at the Arkansas Children's Hospital Legal Services, cofounded the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families, and investigated racism in South Carolina prisons.
-
First Lady of the United States: Hillary spearheaded the Adoption and Safe Families Act, Foster Care Independence Act, Office on Violence Against Women, and the Campaign Against Teenage Pregnancy.
-
New York Senator: Hillary secured healthcare for 9/11 first responders and expanded access to care for the National Guard, Reservists, and their families. Senator Clinton fought for unions and a higher minimum wage despite corporate contributions.
Inequality is fought by tackling all issues facing all Americans. Hillary has scars for taking on universal healthcare in 1993, and is now taking on the most powerful special interests in the country: the NRA. For those that say Hillary is inauthentic or bought by special interests, one needs to look no further than the battles she has fought. The scars she has obtained. The accomplishments she has achieved.
What has become crystal clear is that Bernie hasn’t been operating at the highest levels of American government. Clinton and Obama know how best to fight for progressive values within our current system. And they have the scars to show for it. That is why Hillary has been receiving so many high-profile endorsements from organizations such as the Brady Campaign, Planned Parenthood, and the Human Rights Campaign. These organizations know Hillary is tested, tough, and proven. She has the strategy to move us forward. No candidate will build on Obama’s progress better than Hillary Clinton.
Despite the 24/7 Hillary-hate since the early 1990s (brainwashing a certain segment of the American public against Hillary) she still stands strong in national polls. Bernie may be up in some current head-to-head match-ups against GOP candidates, but remember — the Republicans are propping up Bernie to hurt Hillary in the general. However, despite all the attacks, Hillary is still ahead of her GOP opponents.
Personally, I don’t mind Socialism, but can you imagine if Bernie is the Democratic nominee? Think of all the older adults you’ve talked to that think Bernie is going to tax us into oblivion. Think outside of what you see on the Internet and what you see in progressive havens. Bernie will get slaughtered by the 24/7‘Fox-News-Rush-Limbaugh-Trump’ machine. A machine that has yet to stop Clinton.
“The other party doesn’t want to run against her. And if they do, they’d like her as mangled up as possible.”
~President Bill Clinton
History will look at Hillary Clinton as someone who never gave up and continued to succeed, despite being knocked down over and over again. She will be seen as a polarizing trailblazer who finally found her voice — leading to eventual success as First Lady, Senator, and Secretary of State.
Once in positions of power, Hillary is ruthless when it comes to effectively advocating for her positions and destroying the opposition. This is why Republicans have fought (and failed) to stop her political career from climbing to new heights.
Hillary's resilience is unparalleled. She bounces back in the face of defeat because she's smart, articulate, and tough.
Many of Hillary's colleagues have often noted that she is almost always the most knowledgeable person in the room about any given issue. Her knowledge, persistence, and stamina is an unstoppable combination. Her perseverance, despite being attacked daily for the last 30 years, is a testament to her political skill and brilliance.
Former President Bill Clinton, the other half of this political powerhouse, often describes Hillary as the most competent person in his generation. I couldn't agree more. So although she may have been too polarizing to win the Presidency in 2008, we can all be certain that if given the opportunity, she would have been one of the most competent and successful President's in our lifetime. And I hope she is given another chance in 2016.
As Bill Clinton proved, you don’t have to win to be considered the “comeback kid” in New Hampshire:
Though in 2008, Hillary did pull off an amazing comeback in New Hampshire against a surging Barack Obama:
“I come tonight with a very, very full heart. And I want especially to thank New Hampshire. Over the last week, I listened to you and, in the process, I found my own voice.”
[APPLAUSE, WHISTLING, CHANTING]
“I felt like we all spoke from our hearts, and I am so gratified that you responded. Now, together, let’s give America the kind of comeback that New Hampshire has just given me!!!”
[APPLAUSE, WHISTLING, CHANTING]
“I’ve been called a lot of things by many people — Quitter’s not one of them.”
