Voters can still register to vote in Democratic primaries or caucuses in twelve states, Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia. Independents/Republicans can switch party affiliation to the Democratic Party in some primaries and caucuses.

Guam: Caucus on Saturday, May 7th. Only registered Democrats may caucus. Contact gec.guam.gov to learn voter registration dates.
Puerto Rico: Voters must register by Saturday April 16th. While Puerto Rican residents cannot vote in general elections, they CAN vote in the Democratic Primary. No matter what your party registration, it seems you can vote in the Democratic primary. Has an open primary on Sunday, June 5th.
Kentucky: Voters must be registered as Democrats to vote in the primary. Voter registration closes Monday, April 18th. The primary is on Tuesday, May 17th.
West Virginia: Registration ends Tuesday, April 19th. Primary voting is on Tuesday, May 10th. Voters who have not declared a party affiliation can vote in the Democratic primary.
Connecticut: Voters MUST register as Democrats to vote in the primary. Last day to register is Thursday, April 21st.
Rhode Island: Primary voting is April 26th. Registration is closed. HOWEVER, Voters who have not declared a party affiliation can vote in the Democratic primary.
Oregon: Voter registration closes Tuesday, April 26th. Primary voters must be registered as Democrats. The primary is on Tuesday, May 17th.
Indiana: Primary voting is on May 3. Registration is closed. Indiana is an open primary, so any registered voter can vote in the Democratic primary.
Virgin Islands: You must be registered as a Democrat to caucus. Voter registration closes May 3rd. Closed caucus on Saturday, June 4th.
New Mexico: Voters MUST register as Democrats by Tuesday, May 10th, to vote in the Tuesday, June 7th primary.
District of Columbia: Of course, it’s complicated…check with the appropriate officials…. Allegedly, registered Republican voters must change parties by Monday, May 16th to vote in the Democratic primary. Regular registration for Democratic affiliation is Monday, May 16th, according to Bernie Sanders website, but you should check with the registrar to be sure. New and unaffiliated voters can register as Democrats on June 14th, the day of the closed primary.
New Jersey: New Jerseyites must register as Democratic or Independents by Tuesday, May 17th to vote in the Democratic Primary on Tuesday, June 7th,. Independents can change their party affiliation on voting day.
California: Voting registration ends Monday, May 23rd. Californians must be registered as a Democrat or without a party affiliation to vote in the Democratic primary on June 7th.
South Dakota: Register by May 23rd. Both Democrats and undeclared voters can cast ballots in the Tuesday, June 7th primary.
Montana: Any registered voter can vote in the Montana Democratic primary on June 7th. Montana allows same voter day registration on June 7th.
North Dakota: There’s no voter registration in North Dakota. Just show up to vote on Tuesday, June 7th.
