This is Freedom in Rep. Jason Chaffetz's stunted mind: with the Republican Obamacare repeal plan, you can make choices. The choice he's suggesting you make, however, shows that he understands healthcare about as deeply as he understands ethics in government.
"We're getting rid of the individual mandate. We're getting rid of those things that people said they don't want. Americans have choices and they have to make a choice. Maybe rather than getting the new iPhone they just love, maybe they should invest in their own health care."
Cuz, boy, that $700 you're not spending on a cell phone sure would pay for a lot of healthcare. Like a refill on your Nexium prescription. Or maybe getting a tooth pulled. Or maybe one drop of chemotherapy. Or half of an emergency room visit, since you're going to the ER because you can't afford to buy health insurance.
Maybe we all just have to keep protesting Chaffetz, and use all the money we're being paid to show up to pay for our care.
Seven years. Seven fucking years Republicans have been obsessing about Obamacare and healthcare and voting on it over and over and over again, and this is how much he learned about how healthcare works? How anything works?
