Received this e-mail today from Governor Tom Wolf’s (D. PA) re-election campaign:
National Coming Out Day is an important day of expression and self-love for the LGBTQ community.
But for many Pennsylvanians, coming out can be made more difficult because they could lose their job or be denied a mortgage because of who they love or how they identify. That's because Pennsylvania is the only state in the Northeast without a non-discrimination law.
Since he took office, Governor Tom Wolf has been fighting to ensure that members of our LGBTQ community feel welcomed and are treated as equal members of our society. He signed an executive order protecting all state employees from being discriminated against because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
But without action from Harrisburg, this executive order doesn't protect all Pennsylvanians. Stand with Governor Wolf and sign the petition to put the pressure on state legislators to pass a nondiscrimination bill.
William Penn founded our commonwealth on the values of fairness and tolerance, and he came here on a ship called the "Welcome" because he envisioned this new land to be open for everyone -- for every American to be able to be who they want to be.
Now is the time for the Pennsylvania General Assembly to pass an LGBTQ non-discrimination law and show the world that this is the place that William Penn envisioned when he founded our commonwealth on the principle that it be open, diverse, and inclusive for all people.
No one should be afraid to come out. Make your voice heard if you agree.
Thank you,
Wolf Pack
