Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin’s (D. WI) re-election campaign:
Our tax code should reward work, not wealth.
For too long in this country, the wealthy and privileged have had a tax code specifically tailored for them. They've been able to jump through never-ending loopholes in order to avoid their obligations.
I think there's a better way — that’s why I’ve introduced the Stronger Way Act with my colleague Cory Booker which would reward people for hard work and help families keep more of what they earn. We can start by expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) to boost wages and make sure people aren't taxed into poverty. We can also expand the Child Tax Credit to put more money in families' pockets.
If this sounds more like a tax plan that will work for you and your family, sign on to show your support.
On the other side, Republicans introduced a tax plan that is nothing short of a giveaway to the wealthy and corporations.
Those already bringing in millions of dollars do not need tax windfalls. The people who need tax relief the most are the families across the country who work full-time (or more) and still can't make ends meet.
Millionaires aren't struggling. Middle class families are. They work hard and see it pay off less and less. We need to reverse that trend before our middle class disappears.
There's a stronger way forward on tax reform. Sign on to support my plan.
Thank you.
Tammy
