Many of you who are regular readers of Daily Kos, especially those in the pooties and woozles community are familiar with newpioneer — who is Chef Bobby Neary Sánchez — Chef Bobby Neary on Twitter
Bobby is in Puerto Rico and like others there is dealing with the horrific neglect of the island by the powers that be. He, like his brothers and sisters on the island is an example of resilience.
This is not a fund raising diary — though if he lets us know what his friends, neighbors and animal buddies need — I’m sure we can do one.
This is simply to let him know, when he is able to get online, that we have not forgotten him or the folks in PR and the USVI.
This is a time for love and hugs.
Here are some recent comments he has made:
Pakalolo, it's heartbreaking all over again seeing the video of my town, Guayama. I've had to relocate from my farm in Ranchos de Guayama to the metro area where we still have no power. We're only running the generator from 10pm to 6am to keep the food in the fridge cold and run the fans so we can try and sleep thru the noise and nauseating fumes. Still, we're planning for a beautiful Christmas meal, and we'll worry about how to keep going on the 26th. Felíz Navidad!!!
Angrier and angrier right with you, hermanita. Today marks the 92nd day and here un Cupey (San Juan metro area) we're still without power. 70% with power on the island? MY ASS
Don't have much battery left so I have to go. Felíz Navidad, querida. Te quiero mucho.
No, I won't leave and I won't stop fighting for the island I love. Millions more just like me.
He has posted his hopes for a green future for Puerto Rico here on DKos in the past.
So dear hermano Bobby — Felíz Navidad to you. Hope you have pasteles, and coquito ;)
