This diary has absolutely nothing to do with anything; it doesn't prove anything; it doesn't even suggest anything; it's just a vagary of the way my mind (if it can be called that) works, and I wanted to share.
So, Sarah Palin has been ragging on Colin Kaepernick again, which is hardly news. But Raw Story, for its article, used a split photo of Sarah and Colin, and the photo of Colin they used is the one in the middle here. And somehow, I got the feeling that I had seen, not that photo, but something very similar to it, and recently, but not a photo of Colin. So I started digging a little, and came up with the above.
The image on the left is the Richard Neave forensic reconstruction, made in 2001, of a first-century Jew born in Israel or Judah, living in Galilee. That is a three dimensional reconstruction, of which this is a photo. There also exists a photo of the reconstruction in semi-profile. This BBC article probably goes into the most detail as to how Neave created this, not claiming it to be a portrait of Jesus, but also saying he most probably resembled it, since too much difference would have caused him to stand out, which he clearly didn't. This Artnet News article shows the profile in addition to the full face.
The image on the right was also done forensically, this time by a group of Italian law enforcement experts, who started with the shroud of Turin. First they went from a negative to a positive image, and then regressed the image down to about the age of ten or twelve. They were more accustomed to doing age progression. For example, a 1959 photo of a Mafia boss which was age-progressed was used to capture the man in 2006. Age regression, however, would be just the same, only backwards. Out of a strip of images I used the one at the oldest age, which wouldn't in theory be any older than 33 and which would have had the least amount of tinkering
Probably my personal conviction that Colin Kaepernick is a genuine patriot and an American hero had something to do with my mental connections, as did the fact (which so enraged Palin) that he has made a large donation to Meals on Wheels. But I am not claiming anything at all here, other than about the way my mind works. As I said above, I just wanted to share.
