Welcome to the eighteenth entry in our Backyard Science “Alphabet” series. Today’s Bucket is brought to you by the letter “R”.
Note: “Rose” is an obvious candidate for this list. But since I have so many pictures of roses from a number of locations I am going to give them their own diary to be published mid-week. And I expect the usual commenters will have many examples of their own as well.
The Daily Bucket is a regular feature of the Backyard Science group. It is a place to note any observations you have made of the world around you. Insects, weather, meteorites, climate, birds and/or flowers. All are worthy additions to the bucket. Please let us know what is going on around you in a comment. Include, as close as is comfortable for you, where you are located. Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the patterns that are quietly unwinding around us.

Also an excellent example of the intensity of a “hawk-like gaze”.
(“Red” as part of a common name makes it easy to find samples...)
Need to include the Ring-billed gull. Common where I live and the “delawarenis” is a reference to the nearby Delaware River.
(Red, Rattlesnake, and Reptile in one go!)
Russian Olive is a non-native shrub/small tree that is widely established in North America and considered an invasive in many places.
Our turtles come in three sizes; wee, not so wee, and friggin' huge!
