Going by viewer totals published by AdWeek, e.g. Scoreboard: Tuesday, May 16, FOX prime time news has been languishing and MSNBC surging. Lately MSNBC hosts have been beating FOX counterparts in total viewers in the 25-54 demographic.
Here are some trends of the prime-time hosts:
So Chris Matthews has been up sharply in the last week or so, approaching 500,000 viewers in the demographic. The periodic dips are the Friday ratings. Similar for Chris Hayes, topping out recently near 700,000:
Rachel Maddow has exceeded 800,000 reently:
Lawrence O’Donnell has flirted with 700,000 and above on occasion:
OK, as for FOX, The Five did very well around the inauguration but not much movement since, bouncing around 500,000:
Tucker Carlson is fading below 500,000:
